Stop Dieting!! Why Diets Don't Work

When it comes to reaching your health and fitness goals, what is one of the more popular thoughts that arise in your mind? Is it, "I need to go on a diet?" For most of you that, along with the thought of starting an exercise program comes to mind instantly. Well, I am here to tell you right NOW, to eliminate the word diet from your vocabulary.

Why am I so against diets, and why should you be against them? It's simple, because the word diet usually implies something that has an end attached to it. When you go on a diet, you usually go on this diet to reach a desired weight. Once that desired weight is reached, then what? Most people revert back to their old habits, and end up putting the weight right back on, and sometimes plus more. Dieting is not an effective long-term weight loss strategy. 

 

Another reason why you should eliminate the concept of dieting from your life, is because most diets are too restrictive and unhealthy in the long-term. Just look at the popular keto diet, that adamantly encourages you to avoid carbs. In the long-term, this diet is just not sustainable, nor is it healthy. But, in the short-term you will see positive results, as with all diets. All diets essentially work in the short-term, but it's the long-term benefits that you should be after. The first three letters in the word DIEt, should tell you enough.

 

You have to commit to changing your lifestyle if you really want to shed weight, keep it off, and maintain a healthy life for the long-term. Your health doesn't deserve a short-term approach, it deserves the long-term approach. You must prioritize your health by any means necessary. Every decision that you make in life should be a decision that promotes health and longevity. If weight loss is the goal, then first you have to make the commitment to adopting a healthier lifestyle. One you do this, then there will be no stopping you from not only accomplishing your goal, but also living a more productive life.
